NOTE: Gigs are often added, canceled, or rescheduled at the last minute. You are welcome to call or e-mail me to confirm performance dates and times. The gigs listed below are an incomplete list and do not include private engagements.

Tuesday, June 1, 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM

Lorna K - classic jazz vocals
House of Shields
39 New Montgomery
(South of Market, between 2nd and 3rd Streets)
San Francisco, CA
no cover
21 and over

This is a lovely old bar and grill, founded 1908. It's right across from the Palace Hotel and is right by the Montgomery Street BART station. It's an easy place to have an after-work drink if you work downtown. I've worked with Lorna for many years, but was too busy with my band in May to play with her. It will be fun to play with her again, especially as Greg Sankovich will be on piano. Greg is the pianist in my trio. We play well together.

Wednesday, June 2, 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM

Lorna K - classic jazz vocals
Shanghai 1930
http://www.shanghai1930.com/
133 Steuart Street, San Francisco, CA
San Francisco, CA

I've played at Shanghai 1930 many times in the past with Lorna K. This is the first time in some time that she's played here - it will be nice to be back with her. Eric Berman, a noted local Latin pianist, will be with us.

Shanghai 1930 is a beautiful restaurant - it's got a lovely bar and a beautiful restaurant. The food is top-notch Chinese food and differs from what you get in most Chinese restaurants.

Friday, June 4, 7:00 to 10:00 PM

Kurt Ribak Trio - Original jazz
Prima Ristorante
http://www.primaristorante.com/
1522 N. Main Street, Walnut Creek, CA
Every Friday, 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM
All ages

This is a great gig. The band is really developing - on this gig we regularly get into "the zone," where we feel like something really special is happening with the music. The response of the staff and the clientele has been great. Greg Sankovich is on piano and Tim Solook on drums.

Sunday, June 6, 5:30 to 7:30 PM

Love Motel - jazz
Rasselas
1534 Fillmore near Geary
San Francisco, CA
http://www.rasselasjazzclub.com/

Love Motel is back playing every Sunday at the Fillmore Rasselas. I played with Love Motel several times at the old, now closed, Rasselas on California and Divisadero. This band is led by guitarist Jeff Hirano. We played together in Section 8 Project, a local jazz band. I really like Jeff Hirano's tone and ideas - he plays with effects, frequently uses a Steinberger guitar rather than a fat jazz box, and is generally much more of a modernist in his playing. On drums is Tim Vaughan, a fine drummer. We will also have various people sitting in.

Please note this is an early gig - you can come see us and still get a good's sleep for the work week. There is easy street parking or at Safeway (across Fillmore from the Fillmore Auditorium). The new Rasselas is a stylish place with a much more modern vibe than the old Rasselas.

It's an easy place to have an after-work drink if you work downtown. Greg Sankovich will be on piano and Tom Griesser will be featured on clarinet. Tom is an old friend of mine and we played in several groups together, including Section 8 Project and 3 Go T. Tom currently plays with the Marcus Shelby Orchestra, 3 Go T, and has also been active with Brass Monkey and the New Morty Show.

By the way, if you like creative jazz/funk, check out Times 4. This group can really tear it up and includes Greg Sankovich on keyboards. Also featured in the band is saxophonist Lincoln Adler, who occasionally plays with us.

Wednesday, June 23, 7 to 11 PM

Kurt Ribak Trio - Original jazz
Enrico's Sidewalk Cafe
http://www.enricossidewalkcafe.com
504 Broadway at Kearny,
San Francisco, CA 94113
415-982-6223

We are back at Enrico's. I'll be leading my trio with Greg Sankovich on piano and Kevin Mummey on drums. This is the same trio that has been getting such a good response at Prima in Walnut Creek. Enrico's is a classic North Beach joint. It's also close to City Lights bookstore (one of the best bookstores ever, period) and a variety of other cafes (including the famed Caffe Trieste), restaurants, and strip clubs.

This week we will be featuring Fred Harris on piano. Fred and I used to play together way back in the day at the Club Deluxe in Kevan Lennon-Onaje's band. Fred is quite a powerhouse on piano. He's an equally fine drummer.

We have been here since last July and are building a steady clientele. Tip: If you want to hear us, you can reserve a table in the bar by the band.

Kurt Ribak Trio - Original jazz
Cato's Ale House
http://www.mrcato.com/
3891 Piedmont Ave.
Oakland, CA
510-655-3349 all ages
no cover

We played at Cato's for the first time in many months in March.  They liked us and are having us play the last Wednesday of every month. Cato's is a beer and wine place with a lot of good bar grub as well. Their beer selection is excellent, and you can bring your kids if you wish. This gig features Hal Richards on woodwinds and Michael Emenau on vibraphone.
