Kurt Ribak Trio t-shirts are in. These are a seven-color print on Hanes Beefy-T shirts, so these are a quality product. These echo the artwork of the first CD. They are black, with the three-colored hand on the front and the words "Kurt Ribak Trio" on the back. They come in women's sizes and cut from small to XL and men's from small to XXL. e-mail me at: kurt@ribak.com if you would like to buy a shirt. They cost $25.00 each including regular postage. FedEx or the like will cost more.
Michael Burman, the KCSM-FM announcer, wrote a nice profile of Kurt and the Kurt Ribak Trio CD and personnel. We've also uploaded bios of Kurt, Greg Sankovich, and Tim Solook. The Kurt Ribak Trio CD has enjoyed repeated airplay on KCSM.
NOTE: Gigs are often added, canceled, or rescheduled at the last minute. Personnel may also change between the listing of an event and the performance. Kurt Ribak Trio - original jazz
Baltic Restaurant
135 Park Place, Point Richmond, CA 94801
510-237-4pub
mailto:balticsquarepub@sbcglobal.net
The Baltic Restaurant is back. It was closed for a couple of years. It's an old restaurant (founded circa 1906) with lots of character. I'll be leading a trio featuring keyboardist Greg Sankovich and drummer Tim Solook. For those of you who like old-school rock 'n roll, R&B, and blues, check out The Blue Sky Band at the Baltic the night before. Greg will be playing that gig too.
There is a menu and full bar there. I haven't tried the food yet, although I've heard it's quite good. It's a nice comfy place, and Pt. Richmond is a great little town - it's a cute small town with a lot of great old houses.
Thurs., Mar. 2, 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Belinda Blair - jazz vocals
Shanghai 1930
http://www.shanghai1930.com/
133 Steuart Street, San Francisco, CA
San Francisco, CA
Way back in the day (like 1997) I played bass in a swing / jump group called Jellyroll, which features Belinda Blair on vocals, Steve DeKrone on drums and vocals, and at the time included Paul Mehling (leader of the Hot Club of San Francisco). Jellyroll is still active and was featured in the 2003 movie "Swing." Belinda fronts a jazz group regularly at Shanghai 1930 and asked me to cover bass on a last-minute gig there. I haven't played with Belinda in many years, so this should be an interesting experience for me.
Belinda has an excellent voice, and Shanghai 1930 is an excellent place to have a cocktail or three and eat some fine Chinese food.

Andy Ostwald will be on piano, with Randy Odell on drums. Andy's playing shows strong Keith Jarrett, Bud Powell, and Bill Evans influences, and I really like his take on the music we play. Andy and Randy play really well together. Prima is always a great place to play - I am lucky to be able to look forward to this gig every week.

Greg Sankovich will be on piano, with Tim Solook on drums. The food here is exceptional, the bar is great, and the view of the Bay Bridge is unobstructed. This is a great place to hang out on a Sunday night.

Kurt Ribak Trio - featuring vocalist Bob Langlie
Jupiter
2181 Shattuck Avenue (at Center Street), Berkeley,
across from the Berkeley main BART station
510-THE-TAPS for directions
510-THE-ROCK for information on music and specials
http://www.jupiterbeer.com
This is always a fun place to play. Jupiter is a very popular place - they've got an excellent beer selection, food, a patio area, and lots of attractive twentysomethings. It's near the UC campus and is easily accessible by BART. Have some beer and food, people watch or hang out with friends, and listen to us play. We will be playing in the patio barring inclement weather.
Bob Langlie is an excellent blue-eyed blues, R&B, and old-school rock 'n roll singer. He and keyboardist Greg Sankovich have played together for many years in Blue Sky Band. Bob has been working on his jazz vocal chops and will be singing a mix of jazz, R&B, and blues with me and Greg backing him. Greg and I will also be playing that night as an instrumental duo.
Thursday, Mar. 9, 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM

504 Broadway
at Kearny,
San Francisco,
CA 94113

Max Perkoff will be on piano (and maybe trombone!) and Randy Odell on drums. Max is part of the Perkoff family of poets and musicians. Great guy and a fine player. Randy and I go way back, and the three of us really enjoyed playing together in the past.
Enrico's is a classic North Beach joint. It's also close to City Lights bookstore (one of the best bookstores ever, period) and a variety of other cafes (including the famed Caffe Trieste), restaurants, and strip clubs. Enrico's is known for its food and its cocktails, especially the mojito and a kumquat caipiroshka (yes, it sounds weird, but it's quite good.)

Attention my South Bay friends! We are back at the Hotel De Anza! It is considered one of the nicest jazz venues in the South Bay. I'll be playing there with Greg Sankovich on piano and Tim Solook on drums, the same lineup as on our debut CD, "Kurt Ribak Trio."

SF Weekly Review
21 and over
This gig will feature Greg Sankovich on piano and Tim Solook on drums. we will be doing our regular material but will also be backing Bob Langlie. Bob is a blues and R&B singer who is also moving into jazz vocals. Bob and Greg have performed together for many years in Blue Sky Band, and you may have seen Bob sit in with us at Prima or sing with us recently at Jupiter.
This venue is in the old Condor strip club. No more stripping, though. Andrew Jaeger is a New Orleans - style chef who is keeping his New Orleans restaurant running as well.
The food is really good and I really like the staff and management, who mostly are from New Orleans. This is a great place to hang out and watch people go by while having a drink, eating some great New Orleans food, and hearing some jazz.
