San Francisco, CA

This is a lovely old bar and grill, founded 1908. It's right across from the Palace Hotel and is right by the Montgomery Street BART station. It's an easy place to have an after-work drink if you work downtown.

Friday, Nov. 5, 7:00 to 10:00 PM

Kurt Ribak Trio - Original jazz
Prima Ristorante
http://www.primaristorante.com/
1522 N. Main Street, Walnut Creek, CA
Every Friday, 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM

This is a great gig. The band is really developing - on this gig we regularly get into "the zone," where we feel like something really special is happening with the music. The response of the staff and the clientele has been great. Kevin Mummey will be on drums and Greg Sankovich on piano.

Saturday, November 6, 9:30 PM to 12:30 AM

Kurt Ribak - original jazz
The Albatross
1822 San Pablo Avenue (two blocks north of University, west side of the street)
Berkeley, CA 94710
510-843-2473 (510-THE-BIRD)
http://www.albatrosspub.com/
21 and over
$3.00 Cover charge

The Albatross (aka The Bird) has been around since 1964. Current owners Wendy Halambeck and Linda Zsilavetz did a wonderful job of revitalizing the place without losing the charm it had. There are lots of board games available, lots of room for darts, a nice fireplace in the back, and food. It's a very friendly comfortable place. They now have a hard liquor license, so it is a great place to have a single malt scotch or the like.

We'll have Hal Richards on woodwinds, Robin Lewis on guitar, Randy Odell on drums, and me on bass.

Sun., Nov. 7, 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM

Lorna K and her Kombeau - Vocal jazz
Duke Ellington Society
Fort Mason Center, Building C, Room C-260. Parking available.
San Francisco, CA
Entrance to Ft. Mason at Buchanan and Marina Blvd.

Tickets: $12 - $15 sliding scale.

Singer Lorna K will be featuring Duke Ellington songs in her program. Greg Sankovich is on piano and I'm on bass.

Below I quote from Lorna's press release:
"I have received an invitation by the Duke Ellington Society of San Francisco to perform a full-length concert of Ellington standards. This is part of a concert series which they sponsor throughout the year, and it is quite an honor for me to be included in their lineup. The performance is open to the public, and I would like to invite you all to attend! It's Sunday afternoon, November 7, at Fort Mason Center - a perfect opportunity to grab a sack lunch from Green's, picnic along the waterfront, and hear your's truly sing some really fine music, accompanied by Mr. Greg Sankovich on piano, and Mr. Kurt Ribak on bass. All you non-night owls, here's your chance! All you sailors from Vallejo, hoist 'em up and come on over!"

Tues., Nov. 9, 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM

We played at Cato's for the first time in many months in March.  They liked us and are having us play the last Wednesday of every month. Cato's is a beer and wine place with a lot of good bar grub as well. Their beer selection is excellent, and you can bring your kids if you wish. This gig features Hal Richards on woodwinds and Gerry Grosz on vibraphone.
